questions on progesterone suppositories

Saw my ob today and finally, they decided to help me with my periods and fertility. It was sort of unexpected. I didn't know and didn't ask for anything today. We were going over my hsg test, & progesterone levels which was 0.7 in february and 13 in march Crazy huh? periods every 21-24 days about 7-8-9 days long. To kill two birds with one stone, she prescribed me progesterone suppositories. She strongly suggested it. It will help me have a longer cycle and hopefully help me with pregnancy. I was prescribed a low dose of 25 and am to insert them only during my lueteual phase- from cd13-cd27......unless i begin af before cd27. . We only talked for 10 quick minutes. She gave me instructions and i was off. I didn't ask many questions because it was unexpected. So ladies would you please help me out?  My concerns are, I often read that women try to avoiyd them, but why?
What are the side effects? What time of the day do you put it in? Is there a chance it Will it change my ovulation day, which would normally be cd12? Should I have sex before or after and does it make it more messy? Will I get less cm, which normally I produce a good amount, etc....will it help me get pregnant or stay pregnant should it happen.share anything and your thoughts.

Great.  Thanks for the responses!  Is there anyone who is not pregnant and taking suppositories?  Or did any of you ladies begin taking them before getting pregnant?  Yes, my ob asked me to start the day after ovulation.  I typically ovulate on CD12, so she asked that I start on CD13.  I guess i will insert them at night before bed.

I've never taken the suppositories, only orally so I'm no help in that department.  But just wanted to say YAY to your OB for finally listening and getting you headedin the right direction.  And yay for you for speaking up and demanding some solutions!!

I hope this is the key to your BFP!!!  Sending lots of hugs your way!

Dont start taking them until AFTER you know you ovulated. Take them at night right before u go to sleep. They will make u drowsy and might cause nausea the next morning. Mine made my nose stuffy and bleed the 1st week. I am 5 wks 3 days pregnant and I will stay on mine for awhile because I have had 3 losses in less than a year and we think it might have been due to low Prog.

i took them when i found out i was prego with my last baby for 15 weeks. i also took them before bed because it melts like yeast infection cream :( it was very messy so i tried not to pee to much at night. it burned like crazy the first 3 days and i spotted for a couple of days after that i was fine with it. it was really scarry in the begining. i've never tried them to get pregnant but i've heard that it helps to keep you pregnant, not sure how true that it. good luck with trying.

I am prescribed 100 mg as soon as I find out I'm pregnant and take them for 16 weeks, barf!  I put them in at night as they kind of melt inside, EEEEK!  As far as side effects, heck really haven't noticed and have taken them with the last 3! GOOD LUCK THIS MONTH!!
