I have worked in the dental field for a very long time and dental xrays are safe during pregnancies. Only get what you need (don't do a full set, that can wait until later) as most xrays done in dentistry are low radiation. They can protect your belly with a lead shield to make it even safer. There are some dental procedures that cannot be performed without xrays, so if  it's necessary, don't stress.

Less radiation than getting on an interstate flight if that helps put it in perspective.  I wouldn't go having any unnecessary X-rays as there's enough background radiation from soil, rocks etc but if needed don't worry.

Hi, i recently had my wisdom tooth out but told them that i was pregnant and they did without the xray... they did say if they needed one it would be for me to decide but as long as they know they can give extra cover for the baby area... they said the risks were low anyway but i didnt want to risk it after taking so long to get pregnant... but as long asyou told them i wouldnt worry...but if you are talk to your midwife or look up on nhs choices website. Take care!

I got dental xrays done just yesterday. My obgyn had to fax the dentist a letter giving permission to do so. They both said that it wouldn't harm my baby

If the dentist knew you were pregnant they should have given you extra precautions but baby should be fine. It wasnt a prolonged exposure. I had an extra with last baby at the dentist and she is fine.

Personally I would not have gotten the X rays but my dr told me that when baby is born they are subjected to more X rays then you would think and that it is OK to get necessary X rays while pregnant I would stress about it.
