Wanted to update everyone on my Vitamin taking lol--- still doing the Rainbow Light Completes, 2 tablets 3 times a day after I eat. So far everything is good. I've also slacked up on eating so much meat. I feel like my appetite is kind of normalizing right now. And yes PutterGirl my tablets are huge too and green lol and smell unique.
I voted no because I take mine before bed.. But I can honestly say I have not missed my prenatels once yet. I take organic ones. I actually love the smell of them lol.. but they are huge and I have to take three at a time...
I just saw these prenatal gummies at walmart too! when I was taking my blood pressure. I am definitely thinking about trying them. I started this week taking my Rainbow Lights again to see how my body reacts being back on them for a week. I am also trying to do better on my eating too, so maybe that combined will help. So glad they have those gummies as an option now.
While I was waiting to get my Rx of prenatal chewables, I was shopping at Walmart. In the vitamins department I discovered prenatal vitamins gummie. I still take them in the evening, but I found that my body digest them better than the other prenatals. They were about $11.00 but they did help me. I hope that this helps you.
oh forgot to update on vitamins, I had mentioned I was having issues taking some of the iron based vitamins, so my doctor told me to try a gummie multi-vitamin. Every time that I have been taking a multi-vitamin I get a headache about an hour later, anyone else encountering this? I want to take a vitamin but then have trouble with the headaches :(
lol glad you told me figured they would have a taste difference being pickled.
I wouldn't do that with the pickled beets, just fresh ones!
Can I still do that with the jarred ones too I imagine--- I think they are pickled beets? The only thing I was afraid of was my teeth turning purple, lol I am going to try this now I never thought of the butter and pepper. I was reading somewhere I think someone put vinegar over them and made like a salad of sorts.
Just read this on a site:
"Speaking of beet nutrition, here are some of the facts: they are high in folic acid (great for pregnant women), potassium, calcium and antioxidants (betacyanin, which is what gives beets their rich red color.)." Guess cravings are leading me in the right direction.
I usually cube the beets and just boil them till there are tender, serve with butter and pepper... I love beets!!!
JoyRenee thanks for adding that about the protein and headaches. I am very amazed at how much protein it seems I am having to eat with this little one. Again I am primarily a vegetarian but for this pregnancy I am eating meat. I kind of like doing intuitional eating... when your body craves something legitimate its for a reason. I even recently bought beets and I have never ate those before, but I have been wanting them. I have no idea how I will prepare them yet, but it's one of those odd cravings.
I did not think about the Magnesium benefit thanks for bringing that up! With my age the doctor was warning me about the higher risks of pre-eclampsia so I certainly want to prevent this.
I voted NO because I take mine before bed! I also take Magnesium as it is assumed it helps prevent pre-eclampsia. I was having some blood pressure issues and getting headaches everyday. Since starting the Magnesium and eating more protein the headaches are gone and BP is normal. ;-)
I've been taking some Flaxseed Oil for my Omega 3's, I don't know why but my folic acid supplement I tried taking alone was giving me headaches. But then I looked into it after about 2 weeks of headaches and found out some women have this as a side effect.
The Rainbow Light Completes you take about 3 times a day and they have probiotics in them which helps with the constipation but argh still started making me feel yucky.
DHA is great for brain development thanks for reminding me of those! I did hear that the prenatal gummies cause less constipation and nausea, I just might try those and make sure I just take them at night.
Because of my last pregnancy, I take my pre-natals at night. If I take them in the morning , I will not be able to go to work in the morning. It got to the point where I started to take the pre-natal chewable that where prescribed by my doctor, but since it was taking too long to fill the prescription ( a couple of weeks with no explanation), I bought some nature pre-natal vitamins gummies with the folic acid and DHA. My husband has a severe reaction to fish so I find other ways to get what I need so that the baby does not miss out on anything. Like I will eat fish at work or some other seafood.
I take mine right before bed also. It helps so that I don't feel so yucky. I take nature made pre-natals with DHA. I also heard that taking any vitamin is better at night because your body absorbs them better.
I always take my vitamins at night right befor bed. I always get sick from them so its the easiest time for me:)
I TRY to remember but my re has me on only 1 mg of folic acid, they said that was all I needed and I have had no issues with the nausea that prenatals were causing me!
I have always taken mine first thing in the morning with my cran-grape juice after I eat my cereal. If I happen to have a different breakfast - like on Saturdays when we make pancakes - then I usually forget to take my vitamin until I remember later that day. I guess eating the same breakfast helps me remember my vitamin routine.
I take nature made prenatals that are sold at most drug stores and grocery stores. I was going to try and take one with DHA for this pregnancy (I didn't the last time), but the DHA vitamin was so big I couldn't swallow it! I don't have a problem swallowing pills usually, so if it's too big for me then I know it's too big...LOL
I try and make sure I eat fish 2x a week anyways and I eat a mix of other foods too, so I don't feel like my baby is losing out w/out the DHA. My first baby, who's 16 months old now is very healthy and very smart so if he turned out OK with what I did w/ him, I figure this one has a good chance, too. :-)
I take mine at night because it tends to make me nauseous. It's better for me to take it and sleep off the sickness.
I wanted to add that I have so much trouble taking prenatal vitamins. Some can cause severe constipation and others can make me nauseated. One of the best ones I found so far finally in this 3rd pregnancy is Rainbow Light Complete Prenatals. They were a little more than what I normally want to pay but I found a good deal on them to try them out through Amazon.
I did talk to my doctor though and she said even worse case scenario if I can't take those, try taking a children's vitamin. Definitely want to hear what other women are doing and taking for supplements.
