They are back.... it's that time of year again and they have started fighting in our yard and poking themselves in our down stairs window reflection... UGH... what beautiful pests....

My uncle John, from whom I learned a lot of woods-craft, liked to say that if the White Tail Deer had the same eyesight as the Wild Turkey, there would be little to no venison in any freezer.

But the brain size....

The wild turkey has a brain about the size of an unshelled walnut.

However, it is finely tuned for survival, especially the sense of sight.

I have a 25% success rate in turkey hunting versus 80% in deer hunting.

Sometimes a more "primitive" system works better.

anybody is welcome to come hunt them.... they make a mess of the lawn not to mention the annoying sound of the thumping on the downstairs window... I think they are hard to hunt simply because they are all feathers and trying to hit them with an arrow is, well, hard.

Relocate them? If you only knew how many groups we have around here and remember, they fly... lol.... at least they ate the grasshoppers...
