Yes, and this is EYE surgery. Imagine what it looks like when we have to do a big abdominal surgery as in the case of a colic or bowel resection. Most people never see inside an equine surgery room so I thought this would be interesting.
No, these were Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologists at Colorado State University veterinary teaching hospital. See my blog for a link to more of the story and more pictures.
From my BLOG page (second one down)---------------------
I've had a very interesting case in one of my horses. He developed a cataract back in April. We performed the phaecoemulsification last week at CSU Veterinary School. We also implanted in Artificial Lens (very new for horses).
It is a very fascinating story and has been documents in a thread you may wish to read. Too much to duplicate here, but I hope MedHelp will allow this link so you can see not only the leading edge technology in veterinary medicine, but also the complications we've had in this case.
Very interesting and lots of photos for you to see of the surgery and of the complications. Not for the squimish!!
you can see the pics and read the story (5 forum pages) at:
Got it! I will read all about it after I check out your new pictures. You're right. This stuff is very interesting. And your passion for this comes accross. It'd be the same with me if I were talking about wind and solar energy :)
OH.... I've been checking into wind and solar energy for our ranch. OMG it is WAY too expensive. First two systems quoted to me were $110 thousand and $140 thousand. No way. I would be dead for 20 years before any of these systems would pay for themselves. Crazy. I want to do this, but until technology comes way way down (in terms of cost) no way...I'll just keep paying the electric company.
I hear ya. The company I work for owns the biggest solar pant in the country, and it is also the second biggest in the world in the wind business, after Iberdrola. The stuff is expensive but we are talking about a big company. I wouldn't be able to afford clean energy just for my home. Those solar panels are expensive!! Have you thought of putting a small wind turbine for your ranch? Your ranch would be ok with a 0.33MW machine. I'll keep paying the eletric company too!!
