Gidget was part of a litter of puppies that was kept in a pen until she was seven months old. She had to fight for her food because just one pan was put in the pen for the whole litter and she was the smallest, so she was very undernourished when I got her. She was seven months old and I could hold her with one hand. She's twelve pounds now and not quite such a scairdy-cat anymore, though still timid. She's a hoot! She's very protective of my housemate's tiny chihauhau, protecting it from a cranky old Guinea hen that lives in the yard.
AHHHH look how cute and nervous she is. It makes me so mad when people mistreat precious little animals. She is a lucky girl to have found such a wonderful Mom. Such a cutie, love her up mom.
You can't see it in the photo, but there's a diaper attached to the harness... she and Maggie had a doggie door and fenced in yard at our house. We moved here two years ago. Maggie's made the adjustment to being let out periodically, but Gidget's not so good about it. Thus the diaper. She's getting better, but my housemate wasn't too thrilled about me having to wash her carpets every week.
