You wonder why he always dressed in black
Why you never see bright colors on his back
He wears it for the sick and lonely cold
For the reckless ones whose bad trips left them cold
He wears it for the thousands who have died
Believing that the Lord was on their side
He wear it for the sick and trodden down
Living in helpless side of town
We're doing might well he does suppose
With our streak of lightning cars
And fancy clothes
And the world is changing everywhere you go
But till try to put things right
You'll never see him wear a suit of white
And till they try to something
For the folks who are held back -
Till then he'll always wear a suit of black.
