I have no idea.  It's for something I'm writing, not about MH. He must have wanted to be uploaded to see how things have changed  = )  He's also geographically close to the tribe I belong to.

Are you certain the date on this photo is correct? Geronimo was born in 1829.

Swampy - I wondered about that too.  That's part of the reason I uploaded the picture; the information given seemed inaccurate and I've even wondered if the picture is authentic.  Even his "real" name, which wasn't Geronimo, is different from other Apache stories I've read and/or heard.

Later in his life Geronimo was a celebrity and toured the country letting people take his picture.

Its an interesting point that although he fought against the US, the US had a tradition of honoring warriors. When the battle is concluded, warriors are no longer enemies.

He looks like my grandpa, but he was Spanish born in Islas Canarias. He passed away when I was 8. I was his favorite kid. I called him pop.

He looks a bit like my granddaddy too - he was Navajo.

Swampy - I wonder if G can be compared to Ira Hayes - to a limited extent?

Geronimo.. A Famous Indian in the White culture made popular as a tame savage..... Sold ou our Nation to the whites .. Ultimately it lead to our demise ... I do not fault him as we tried in Vain to live with those who would see us as less then Human... Letakos
