If you take blood pressure meds, checking your numbers just before taking your pill will provide insight into how well managed your blood pressure is. Taking a reading at a consistent time of day is important, since readings can fluctuate (they tend to be higher in the morning). Pick a time when you've been up for at least an hour, haven't exercised recently and haven't had any caffeine or alcohol for at least half an hour.
