I'll check some things out. What other meds are you on?
100 mg of topamax daily, which I'm very consistent about because I've already dealt with withdrawal of that and I don't want to deal with it again. I've never taken topamax and concerta concurrently, the topamax I started about five months ago and tolerate very well. My doctor didn't think there would be a problem with the two medications together.
Dr. Charles Parker in his book, New ADHD Medication Rules, on page 118 talk about going over the top or too high a dosage. He says, "at the top you become more irritable, sometimes depressed, unfocused, or hyperfocused, lose your appetite, have difficulty sleeping well, or feel stoned." On page 119, " More symptoms at the Top: confusion, disorientatiion, forgetfulness intensifies, cognitive stress, anxiety each increased, while self-expression diminishes. You just can't think as well"
So good chance you dosage is too high. Tell you doc. Try a lower dose with a good high protein breakfast. The high protein breakfast is very important.
Let me know if this helps.
I don't think the dose is too high, the dose is actually pretty low for me, it's just enough to work. I do however don't really eat breakfast. Or much at all. I'll see if eating breakfast helps but both of my medications kill my appetite on top of me being somebody prone to not eating much. Thank you.
There is no high or low dose. Its how the dose works for you. If you started on a smaller dose and it did not work and you then moved to this dose, you probably are correct.
There are high protein drinks that you can have for breakfast that will work quite well. Of course, always take your adhd meds after you have breakfast - in other words, eat first.
