4.5 year ols wetting herself

My daughter was first potty traing at the age of 2 but every 6 months or so since she was about 3 she goes through a "phase" of wetting herself during the day, for a few weeks. She has never been regulary dry at night but I have no worries about this as I am aware that it is normal for some kids at this age. I have tried rewards with a star chart and a special toy but it had not helped long term and now that she will be going to school in August and is currently going through one of her "phases" I am getting worried. Any ideas? Also there have been no changes throughout her life (no moves, divorce or babies, she was also doing this prior to starting nursery).

I have a 8 year old who has always been a fast learner! At 2 she was potty trained and never looked backed!

My second child who is 2.5 years younger then my first. It took a while to potty train him. It took him until he was almost 5 before he stopped having axidents.

Its a fairly common problem that I see posted there.  The one piece of advice that I can give is that rewards at this age really don't work to well.  Kids of this age can't deal in future events.  I think it is more about getting into an established routine.
Having said this I wonder why you posted on the ADHD forum.  If you also suspect your child may have AD/HD,  then I should mention that in the book,  "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley, on page 72 she does talk about the problem of Encopresis (or wetting the bed or clothing).  If you also suspect your daughter might have ADHD, then I suggest you buy this book.  Best wishes.
