ADHD - Children issues - a word from the wise 43 y/o

I don't want to forgive the issues many people are experiencing with their children re: ADHD

1) It is real; I have battled through it since I was 2 y/o;
2) Parents and your children have equal  stakes at hand, seek help - not only from a psychologicist, but a psychiatrist, and don't stop at the first one in the phone book; i have had way too many people call me crazy, drug seeking but give yourself and your kid a break - you are both brilliant, given the right environment, the right medication/therapy - it takes TIME, don't give up - ADHD people are brilliant - but hold the kids accountable, find their passions, their motivations, you will make huge strides;
3) We as ADHD'rs say F**K authority so be - **** i need to write a book about this - I am 43 y/o and have multiple degrees including HONORs from UCalifornia, and two other universities and getting another degree, it can be done. I also dropped out of high school at the age of 15 and was on my own
4) I can't and won't go into this further - don't rip on your child I hated that and still do - in fact, you want me not to do something tell me I can't do it, UNLESS i really want to do it - ie. Firefighting/EMT while working at MSFT - I did that b/c I was told I couldn't by my ex-wife;
5) THomas Edison, an ADHD'r dropped out of school early, it didn't work for him, so what? School didn't work for me in the traditional fashion but oh boy he had 5 jobs one of which he just was too damn smart to get up every hour to telegraph the RR co... and was fired, but wow, he actually used that to patent the stock ticker and a myriad of other patents.....
6) Crystal/Indigo Children - do some research on that
7) Life is an journey not a destination and ****, ADHD people have to work hard, but put them in a proper environment and stand back...
8) before you start blaming your child, be sure that you take the time to understand what ADHD is all about and get some therapy yourself, b/c you have a wonderful asset that is part of you - harsh yes, but hey therapy is key - AND DO NOT EVER accept the first person you meet w/ - I have met more therapists, etc that are more in need of help than me - do your research.....
Hope this helps b/c it helps me realize how misunderstood ADHD is - it is beautful when harnessed properly - when others don't understand and blame the person with ADHD, it is a receipe for disaster - conversely you have the oppty to nuture our future beings who are brilliant beyond belief - and they want to succeed, and will - Crystal Children/Adults, and Indigos.....
9) You can  do nothing - that is usually the easiest -and well, you'll have a few times around the block, and eventually learn what is needed...I say that with love

Later, Love and Proud to be a ADHD'r.... and still working on it!

I couldn't have said it more passionately myself.
With a young son with ADHD among other things and having Bi-polar and ADHD myself, it has never occurred to me to be anything other than proud of everything he manages to achieve.  Though a few select family members cringe when  ADHD is mentioned, as if it's something that should be hidden and never spoken of.
I'm not only not embarrassed by our illness but actually I'm proud of what we can ,with the right support and treatment achieve.
The sky's the limit in my book :-)
