Delayed Speach

My son is 2 year old now but still does not talk like other kids of his age. He has normal eye contact with his mother, me and his siblings but not much with strangers. He seems to be very hyper, watches lots of TV cbeebies, songs etc. Understands emotions, kisses mother but says only few words like mamma, dada, and sometimes lots of words which’s not understandable. If he wants anything he will hold my finger or anyone’s finger and take them to the place and express himself what he wants. He does play with children of his age and seems very social with them, but does not know how to express his love and affection. He just holds them and tries to hug them. What worries me most is that he spins himself sometimes, he does play with his toys, plays football and likes to play hide and search game. He laughs a lot him someone cuddles him. We are very much worried about his late speech.

I have four children and 12 grandchildren. Two of these children did not speak until they were three years old. Then they made up for lost time. They did not have any mental deficits. Your son's behavior otherwise is completely normal. Give him time. And stop worrying.

Albert Einstein did not speak until he was three years old. Your son is in good company.
