Does Straterra cause problems with athletic performance?

My 8 yr old son has been on Straterra (full dose) for 3 weeks, and it seems to make him run slower at athletics and tire out more quickly, so he is having trouble finishing the longer distances.  Whereas before he started this medication, running was his favourite pastime and athletics was a real confidence booster.
Will this side effect wear off as he gets more used to this medication?

The problem with Straterra unlike the stim meds is that it, "Takes 2 to 4 weeks for maximum effects. Must be taken 7 days a week."   So it is possible that given more time he may get used to it.   However, Straterra also has sedation listed as a side effect.  And its possible he might be over dosed.  Talk with your doctor.  It can be given in the evening to avoid the sedation effects and you might want to try a lower dose.
But, essentially, this should not be happening.  If lowering the dose or trying an evening dose does not work - you might want to try a stim med.
