Med Question

Recently diagnosed with adult adhd.  I was put on 20mg vyvanse about 3 months ago.  Since then I have titrated up to 60mg in the am and a 10mg 100% d-amp "booster" around 2pm..  After about two weeks on this I felt over stimulated so I told my Dr. and he changed me up.  Reduced me back to 40mg Vyvanse in the am and because I said the 100% d-amp (realizing that is in effect what Vyvanse is after it cleaves) was making me too jittery switched me to a new drug - Evekeo.  Which is 50% d-amp and 50% l-amp... From what I can research (bad habit on my part) the l-amp is what causes all the side effects people don't like in Adderall?  The 50/50 split of D/L amps is, from what I can tell, the exact formulation of Benzedrine - which was removed from the market?  I really love my Dr. and he is very well aware of my anxiety, etc..  This is my 2nd day on the Evekeo and so far it does seem "smoother" than the dextro...  This goes contrary to what I would think..  But I'm not an MD.  So my questions are:

1. Should I expect to experience any slight withdrawal symptoms from the lowering back to 40mg of Vyvanse?
2. Does anyone know what I should expect by going to this 50/50 mis of l-amp and d-amp?

Thanks!

Oh and when my Psych added the "booster" he wrote a script for Zenzedi - basically a 100% d-amp from Arbor... Wonder if he is looking to win some golf clubs or something....

Yes.. My fear is this is just a patent grab by Arbor .  It is exactly the same formulation as benzedrine - 50/50 l-amp and d-amp..  It's weird but, contrary to what I would have thought - the Evekeo feels a bit smoother.  I would have thought with the peripheral stim of the l-amp it would not be that way. However, I notice I'm a bit more "down" than I was.. Not sure if it is related or not...

I haven't heard of Evekeo either.  I see that it's just a different formularization of the same drugs that are in Adderall.  I did the math and (milligram for milligram) it would cost an uninsured person 21.6 times more than Adderall.  Congratulations to Arbor Pharmaceuticals for getting this patent.

Yeah, I've always had fast metabolism...  So far the evekeo seems ok other than i've noticed a pressure in my ears - not sure if it is related or not!

I think it would be worth doing.  It may be that he was worried about doing 70mgs, but thats not real unusual.   And some people have a faster metabolism and burn through meds faster anyway.

Thanks for the feedback.  Yeah, not sure why he has chosen the "booster" vs a larger vyvanse dose.  I guess I should ask him at the next appt.

Thanks for the questions.  I read up on Evekeo.  Interesting medication and probably a good idea has it provides a bit more flexability.  I am not exactly sure that V is exactly the same as the D-amp, since adderall is 2 different types of D-amps.
I have to commend your doc for trying the Evekeo.  Many docs probably don't even know it exists.  My only question is why didn't he first try increasing your V to 70mgs?  That should have added about 2 more hours to the duration and would be smoother.   The short acting dextro you first tried always has a higher hit.

gotta read up on Evekeo - not familiar with it.   Usually there are no withdrawal symptoms with stim meds (if you have adhd/add).   Only thing you should notice is duration should be shorter.
Try a high protein breakfast in the morning (protein drink is easy way) and see if that helps.
Duration of meds is a pretty good sign of under/over dosing.  V should last about 10 hours.
