Well, vitamin D is helpful but it is probably not enough... You need a different endo.
yeah I went to this one endo and he doesn't even treat my high blood sugar ha1c levels even though I was prediabetic and all he does is give me vitamin d
thanks so much! yes my endo is really passive and doesn't care. the problem could be my uncontrolled asthma
It could have an effect - so they should test the pituitary.
The hypothalamus signals the pituitary that in turn signals the rest of the glands. They all sense each others levels and adjust - and if there is an abnormality, then one gland may work overtime to signal the other. With just a low cortisol you need to test the ACTH to find out if the pituitary is not signaling the adrenal or if the adrenal is just not doing what it is supposed to do. If ACTH is high, the adrenal is at fault.
I would go see a neuro-endo.
the pituitary is supposed to give the signals for other hormones to be secreted right?
I've been going to these endos for months and they never ordered the stim test for me, just AM cortisol
could it be that the brain lesion in my clivus is attacking my pituitary or affecting it?
That is a low test then on most ranges. 30mg is supposed to be for inflammation like an infection - not for energy. It would actually have the opposite effect.
Have you seen an endo for a stim test?
Thanks very much! 2.4 is an AM cortisol test. I took the 30mg/day pred for a week but had no increase in energy though I could breathe better
I can exercise but I get sick often with respiratory infections
I need a bit of clarification...
What is the 2.4? Is that a blood test? Was it in the morning? You only had one test? At one time of the day? That is not enough for diagnosis.
Was the pred only a one time thing for a week? Did you taper off?
You are still able to exercise everyday? But you get sick often?
Have they run tests like ACTH and cortisol together - any stim tests? I ma not familiar with the other tests - it would be better to ask on the auto-immune board for those tests...
