Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia

My 8yr old has been tested for CAH and we are awaiting results however his Paed Endo is 99% confident he has it, his bone age is 13 but he has not fully begun puberty yet.  He also has been diagnosed with Asperger's & ADHD and I guess I have 2 questions.  1. How will the treatment affect his other conditions with regards to behaviour etc as treatment (as far as I know) is steroid based.  2. Is it possible his ADHD has been misdiagnosed and the behaviour problems stem from previously undiagnosed CAH?  I really don't know much about CAH other than what I've read about online and the bits of info the Endo gave me which to be honest, went pretty much over my head at the time.  Any help/advise is greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

Hi
My son has adrenal insufficiency, Probably Addisons, as well as ADHD, asthma and on the Autistic spectrum!

The prednisilone that he has had for asthma attacks in the past has caused some behavioural changes and not for the better in him! However, what we have found is that since he has been on hydrocortisone for the adrenal insufficiency and his health has improved greatly, his whole self has changed. Where he had little humour before, it has returned. His communication difficulties have lessened as has his anxiety and anger.

All in all, the improvement in him has been staggering and we have only seen positives since he started on steroids. He continues to take psychostimulants for ADHD and in the beginning we wondered if they needed increased but as things have settled down we have seen that his dose is still right for him.

I guess for us we finally have our healthy, happy, sociable kid back. He still has ADHD and communication problems but he is well enough now to cope better with those.

Cant help wth the CAH issues as we are still learning about adrenal insufficiency ourselves having just had the diagnosis at Christmas.
