I have had many doctors pretty much accuse me of being a hypochondriac and but some believe me but just cannot figure it out. I have had too many real visible issues to be making it up but I think the doctors are too stupid to figure it out so it must be making it up.
been reading your comments.i was diagnosed with thyroid problems 10 years ago, and i have many of the same symptoms that you do, but the meds they gave me have not helped much. just today, i got fed up and decided to go to a health food store. i told them all my symptoms, and they were going to give me a natural alternative, and then they asked if they could check my PH balance. it was completely out of whack and they started me on alfalfa, so we are going to see how it goes. i have about given up on doctors, because of the way i have suffered over the past 10 years, and basically they have told me i am crazy and it`s all in my mind. have you heard that one yet? you probably will, because most of them don`t have a clue as to what might be wrong with us. good luck, and i hope you find a solution to your problem. i`ve been at it for years, and i`m not giving up, until i get some kind of relief.
Get copies of everything - it sounds like time to move on... glad your mom is on your side.
PS My mom goes with me as i am unable to drive due to vertigo. I have found they talk to her more than me lol. My moms knows that i am sick and she goes to bat everytime!
That is exactly what I was wondering. I thought that if i had stress it would be a minimal raise. Both epinephrine and norepinephrine were elevated but several hundred points. That is with drinking appox 4 gallins of fluid too. i am not sure if he tested cortisol but my pcp wants me to do a saliva test. I am waiting on some insurance so i can have ct scans done. Thanks for helping me here and making me feel valid. It means alot!
Wait - can he really say you were consistently stressed out the entire 24 hours of the urine test? Wuh? Please do a bit of research there - hormones elevate for stress but should go back down and if they don't, a disease process is likely at work. The doc should not dismiss but do more testing...
What a maroon... I think you need to find another doc - do you take anyone with you to appointments who can pitbull for you? For some really odd reason, docs think words out of the patients mouth is a pack of lies but if someone else says it they can listen a bit more. I once borrowed a mother.
The endo that I saw did a urine test but only tested for adrenaline. That was elevated but he said anxiety. Last time I checked anxiety doesnt cause Uveitis or the numerous skin rashes that I have or muscle weakness. I cannot allow myself to get upset or excited because it makes me literally sick. Yesterday and today I have been fighting muscle pain. It is no fun that is for sure. I am just really scared that something will happen and the doctors are not taking me serious. My PCP is taking me serious though. She is awesome! I just wish that I could find a good neuro that will listen to me. Thanks for your help!!
What you are describing sounds like Cushing's syndrome - so your doctor may be thinking adrenals - but he sure is not doing much to look for it. Lab testing for cortisol and ACTH are needed - and a lot of other testing too. There is no one test for it.
An MRI is what you need, but it has to be with and without contrast and it should be dynamic which means the contrast is given during the scan and you are not taken out to get the injection. This means pictures can be taken during the uptake of the contrast and typically smaller tumors can be seen. More often pituitary tumors are the cause.
I had Cushing's myself - it takes an educated patient as the docs well... they just are not up on it as they think it is rare and so they won't see a case.
Thank you for responding and not a problem at all for delayed response. Pray that everything is ok with you! Our family has never been evaluated for MEN but i suspect that it does run in my family. I thought that the cold hives would be thyroid too but one doctor told me adrenal so who knows. I had an mri on my head and noone mentioned anything about my pituitary. Is there a special scan for that? Do any of my symptoms sound like an adrenal issue. I will tell you that I am 213 pounds and ALL of it is on my trunk and back. My arms and legs are rail thin. I have a big fat patch on my back that almost makes me look humped back and I hate it! I really appreciate you taking your time to respond! Take care and God Bless!
Has your family been evaluated for MEN?
I don't know about the cold and adrenals - I thought that was thyroid...
The urine output could be pituitary - diabetes insipidus - so check that out.
Delays in responding - out of town due to family emergency.
sorry i have memory issues too. I forgot to mention that I also get hives when i get cold. one doctor told me this could be related to adrenals. has anyone ever heard of this?
one more thing...i have extreme thirst and urination. When I did my 24 hour urine test I returned with almost 4 gallons of urine and i was only awake for 14 of the 24 hours.
also have very very low testosterone levels and I am a women aged 35.
