If your cortisol levels are good does that mean your clear of adrenal problems?

So I am hypo. Low t3 and t4. Low vitamin d. I have had adrenal problems mentioned be one md a year and a half ago, but cortisol levels are ok. Does that put me in the clear?

Depending upon the test on the adrenals. That will help. If you had a one time draw at one part of the day and the test came out "in range" that usually is not the best indicator of being normal or not.

Cortisol level shift all day. High in the am the decreasing. If let's say you were stressed out when you took the draw - that can whack out the test. This is one example.

I really think the best testing out there for adrenals is a 24 hr saliva test. It looks at the whole day and can be more reliable in seeing if you are having an issue. Then if there are abnormalities - further testing and treatment should be done.

I know you posted on thyroid - but I see here you are low T3 and T4 too. If you are still in a hypothyroid state and not balanced then your adrenals are stressing out to attempt to balance what your thyroid is not. This alone is stressful on them and it grows out of control as time goes by.

Ok. Thanks. Now, One week ago endo says I am not hypo or hyper. Growing goiters and multiple. Dec.4th doing ultrasound. Possible thyroid removal. I need info. Three questions:a. will my speaking voice change?b.if a person sings will this change their ability to sing?c. does this mean weight gain?
One more thing he mentioned hypo, hyper, and a 3rd category, you know what that means? Your the best, thanks for all your help!

1  No - your voice will be fine - minimal change if at all.

2 You should sing as you did - prior to surgery

3 Gaining weight is hard to say - this will depend on the hypo condition and how you try to maintain your weight.

3rd category?? - never heard of that unless it is spoken as having antibodies or cancer.

Well, it must be antibodies or cancer because he specifically said I am not hypo or hyper. It doesnt make sense I know. I appreciate the info. You have cleared up alot for me.

He just can't say you are not hypo or hyper - it takes time to reviel itself both symptomatically and by labs.

Just because a lab number "says" normal - doesn't mean a heck of beans you aren't feeling normal!

Push and learn all there is to this stuff - you can get better.

Jumping into surgery - we'll just make sure it is right for you.

Was there a suspecion of cancer? Was an FNA done?

I agree! I am fighting surgery unless it is an absolute must. I will ask about fNA? What does that test for? My t3 and t4 were low.

That tests for cancer of the thyroid or a cancerous nodule

I had a needle biopsy done about 3 years ago and of course it was fine. I only had 1 goiter and another small nodule, tiny. Now they have grown and he said multiple.
Two questions:
a. what is the possibilities of it going fron benign to cancerous?
b. what is life like after thyroid removal?
1.energy
2.weight
3.emotionally/depression
