Boa Constrictor

My friend has a Boa Constrictor. He says the snake is covered in what he describes as small black insects the size of a pinhead, and they crawl very slowly. The bedding and tank are also infested with these insects.

If possible can you tell me what they are, and can we treat them?

Many thanks for your time.

Dennis

He probably has contracted mites that could have come into his enclosure on his prey, in which case he will need Ivermectin or other safe insecticide for mites.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. I'll see my friend today and show him this post so he can get the medication you suggested.

Many Thanks.
