With kidney function tests showing renal problems (or failure) I would have to say it is time for an internist to investigate the case more deeply.

Did your dog show these symptoms immediately during the pet food recall time (over 2 years ago now) or did these signs just show up??

Other treatments are available, but before going into specifics here, I would highly recommend you get to a specialist for proper investigations and diagnosis.  Only then can you treat specifically.

One of our own Med Help veterinarians is in Houston and I would highly recommend you give her a call.  You will LOVE her.  Dr. Lori Teller .  Here is her MedHelp Profile.  Please call her.  Meyerland Animal Clinic

Sudden kidney failure due to food. This happened back when they had the dogfood scare from China. In the last 6 months he has lost 30 pounds. And stopped eating dogfood these last 2 weeks as his blood values have gotten worse. They did give him a bolus of fluids 2 weeks ago,but that is the only time they have done it. And told me he should stay overnight to get it,but that they couldn't do it because no one was there at night,so that leaves me where?

No treatments have been prescribed and the only medication they gave him was pain meds and metronaizole. We have done research ourselves because they are not helping us and put him on a low protein diet.

What medications should have been given and what treatment?

Kidney failure is a very difficult disease.  Some dogs can compensate and recover, others cannot.

Hasn't your veterinarian prescribed any treatments??  After having done this blood work and made a diagnosis surely they have given you medications, ask you to come in for follow ups and altered his diet.

Not much else we can say on this without knowing such essential details.
