I had surgery about a week ago on my ankle and have been on bedrest since then, My dog Lola has been acting very distant toward me. She usually sleep by my side and has not been doing that. What is the reason for her change in behavior?

Most likely this is just a change in routine and she is a little unsure and worried.  But I don't think she is "distant" as that is a human emotion we can't assign to pets.  Dogs are very much creatures of habit and routine.  Her routine is off a bit, but as you get back to normal - she will also.  

You can help by having someone fill in on the play time, and work on some games from your bed side.
