Hello and Welcome to our Arthritis Community.

I have something very similar and have often had Sacroilitis.  It is an inflammation of  your sacroiliac joint (SIJ)  or joints -  which is the places where your lower spine and pelvis connect. True to the condition I experience pain in my buttocks and sometimes my very lower back area. The pain often extends down my legs and into my groin. Is this the type of pain you are experiencing?

Sacroiliitis is often aggravated by prolonged standing or by stair climbing. You'd be well advised to avoid both as your SIJ heals. This can become chronic and lead to SIJD (Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction) which is what I have had for many years.

NSAIDs are an important part of treatment. If your symptoms (SX) don't improve a burst of oral steroids often reduces pain and inflammation. If oral steroids are not effective - a very skilled doctor can inject steroids into the joint - which can also be effective.

Ice to the area can help - I found heat more comforting. A good Doctor of Osteopathy can be very helpful to check alignment of the SIJ. Often the SIJ need to be adjusted into proper alignment which will also heal in healing and greatly reduce pain. If a D.O. is not available in your area than a good, gentle chiropractor can also be beneficial.

Sitting cross-legged for 10-15 minutes several times a day helps take pressure off the SIJs. That position can aid in comfort and reduce irritation.

What I do know it proper care now will help avoid problems in the future. This is important. Your condition is not always an easy fix - so stay on it and take care. There's no magic solution.

My suggestions is to rest that joint as much as possible till the pain subsides - than be careful until you're sure it's healed. I wish you well.

Take Care,
~Tuck

Hey chottupaul. Sorry about your suffering

Very good comments from Tuck!

I'm mostly the "complimentary" and alternative guy, who thinks mostly outside the conventional medical box.

You may have been favoring your right leg/side for various possible reasons, such as injury, physiology, etc., since it has a unilateral presentation. You should look into this further.

Inflammation indeed is in the center of all this. thus the NSAIDs.
One of the greatest anti-inflammatory agents I have come across is
Boswellia Serrata (a natural herbal extract) which also comes in a Nano technology formulation from AOR.
Taking it with meals that contain fats (best is coconut oil-heated OK-, or olive oil but not heated!)
The effectiveness gets boosted up to 700% (not a typo) when taken with fats!

It inhibits lipoxigenase enzymes, thus impairing the synthesis of Leukotrienes (inflammatory molecules) ,TNFa blocker  and is also an immmuno-modulator.

Note: The full effect may take a few weeks of supplementation.
Ensure highest quality of standardised Boswellia serrata extract, containing about 40% of Boswellia acids.
There seem to be no established guidelines for dosage, but about
500mg x2 daily with food, is consistent with most practitioners' recommendations.

Ref: PubMed.
Laboratory of Molecular Medicine, Department of Surgery, The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, OH 43210, USA.
"Regulation of vascular responses to inflammation: inducible matrix metalloproteinase-3 expression in human microvascular endothelial cells is sensitive to antiinflammatory Boswellia."

I'm an Independent Medical Research "buff"

Please look into this as I feel, is worthwhile and with no known side effects-this has been used in Ayurvedic Medicine for 1000s of years, with no issues, as an anti-inflammatory.

Here's another more constitutional remedy that I have recommended to many to do a 30-day trial.
I  personally take this remedy every day!

        Organic MSM (methylsulfonylmethane)

-it's a mouthful  lol!-
Some of its possible benefits:

--Blocks inflammations and inflammatory processes thru increased “Methylation.”
--Speeds up all healing processes both thru methylation and sulfur contribution. (sulfur is the most accessible oxygen transport agent to us)
--Muscle relaxant... Chronic pain is aggravated by muscle tension.
-- Dilates blood vessels, enhancing the blood circulation & lower blood pressure.
--Enhances the activity of cortisol, a natural anti-inflammatory hormone
--Helps eliminate waste products and excess cellular fluids through “Sulfation.”
--Improves the uptake of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals in general.
--Improves all natural defense mechanisms in the body.
--Improves liver function.
--Analgesic: it blocks the transfer of pain impulses through nerve fibers (C-fibers).

There are many more things it can do for you, too many to list.

You don't need to buy the most expensive.

I buy the 5lbs horse MSM in powder form-It's fine for human consumption as it is organic and and is 99.7% pure-
I take 2 x 1 heaping teaspoon daily. I let it stay in my mouth for 5 minutes (it's bitter at first) and then wash it down with a glass of spring water. Taking it about 1h before meals is better. You should start with 1/4 teaspoon daily and increase gradually till you reach 2 x 1 teaspoons daily (heaping over 150 lbs).
Note: Some people may require even higher doses, depending the severity of the conditions, age etc., so in the event your improvement is only
minimal, I suggest you increase your intake gradually, until you experience notable results. Everyone is different.
In the US it costs from  $35.00 up + shipping and it will go a long way.

Some people who get rapid improvement with their issues may experience a phenomenon called the Apex Effect, where they cannot remember the details of their former problem!!!

Please again, do your own research on this.
FYI I have never come across anyone who had any serious issues with  taking MSM.

The only complaint was the bitter taste and some constipation initially (people who don't drink enough water), but I found that within a few weeks
the taste was not  offensive anymore. What would you choose if you had a choice --> 5 minutes of bitterness twice a day, or ongoing joint/ muscle  pain?

I hope this helps.

Best wishes
Niko

Niko always provides lots of good info on natural products and healing remedies.  :o)

A word of CAUTION before taking MSM (methylsulfonylmethane). Obviously always consult with your physician before taking any supplement - as Niko normally suggests and I agree.

If you are Allergic to any of the ingredients in MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) do not take it.

This supplement almost killed me as I am allergic to Sulfa Drugs. If you are Allergic to Sulfa Drugs DO NOT take this supplement without a long discussion with your physician.

Peace,

From the Practitioner's Resources:
Can patients with allergies to sulfa drugs still take MSM?
A:  Many patients with allergies to sulfa drugs can take MSM.
MSM contains no sulfonamides, and these allergies are not necessarily transferable to all sulfur-containing substances. However, patients with sulfonamide allergies also tend to have other medication allergies as well.

There's an excellent technical paper/article which explains the misconception about MSM and sulfur containing substances having anything to do with allergies to sulfa drugs and sulfonamide .
(My daughter BTW is also allergic to Sulfa , but not to MSM)
Search under:
" Differentiating Sulfur Compounds
Sulfa Drugs, Glucosamine Sulfate, Sulfur, and Sulfiting Agents"
by Subhuti Dharmananda, Ph.D., Director, Institute for Traditional Medicine, Portland, Oregon

MSM is an  Organic sulfur compound found naturally in fruits, vegetables, grains, animals and also in humans.
The human body contains 5% sulfur and is the 8th most common element
in the body.

One word of caution: Beware of the Jarisch-Herxheimer Reaction, specially when starting with a larger than recommended dose.
MSM healing properties are remarkable and so could be the "negative "
detox effects.

No allergies to MSM have been reported in the medical literature as of 2011.
Nonetheless, it is always advisable to seek the highest quality from reputable suppliers and to start with the smallest recommended dose.
Mine is from Purica and 99.8% pure.

Hmm, did this help?
For some reason I'm thinking of this jury in a movie, who were told to imagine vividly a Green Horse and then to remove this image completely from their minds, as there's no such thing as a Green Horse.
Impossible! Lol!

Cheers!
