hi i have RA and have an operation coming up soon

hi im a bit worried about an upcoming op to remove my gallbladder due to a large stone,i had to see a high risk dr at my pre op appointment i was there for over 2 hours but no one told me why i was high risk and i was afraid to ask,im on methotrexate and wonderd if that might be the reason my rheumatoid athritis is quite aggresive to.thankyou for any response pauline

I am sure you are scared.  Being classified as high risk surely does not help that feeling.  MTX suppresses your immune system and can leave you more suceptible to infection.  Your doc is obviously taking this into consideration.  I think you are in good hands.  Hang in there and know that there have been a few similar posts in the last year and folks have done fine.  Please let us know how it all goes for you.

no its just recently been raised and is to be raised again apparently i have to much rhematoid factor in my blood whatever that means. thx for your responce to my qeustion im really frightend of the op.

Yes, being on MTX would be the likely reason they classified you as high risk.  Are you stopping the MTX prior to surgery?  I am glad your doctor is taking special care of you!
