Is dehydration a possible side effect?

I have been feeling dehydrated, headache, faster pulse, urinate less and have very hard stools for the past week or two.  I was having the fast heart rate with diarreha for a few weeks and I personally lowered my levothryroxine to half a pill a day instead of whole thinking maybe it was thryroid overstimulation... I have since resumed the full pill.  I feel like I am drinking enough water and consciously remind myself to drink extra since I feel dehydrated.  Can this be medicine induced by the levothyroxine or dostinex?  Or maybe something else and not dehydration?

Why is there no reference to the effects of dehydration on medication administration?  Isn't it true that good hydration is necessary for thye best distribution of medicines in one's system.

Thank you Jennifer for your comments!  I am scheduled for more blood work to check thyroid, prolactin, etc next week and will be seeing my endocriniologist again on the 30th.  I will be sure to mention some of these things to her then.

No matter what type of drug your doctor selects for you, there are some general rules to follow in order to get the most benefit from your medication:

Keep taking the medication every day, even if you feel fine.

Make sure you know how and when you should take the medication (for example, with or without food).

Do not adjust the amount of medication you take each day, either upwards or downwards. Your doctor is the only person who should adjust your dosage.

With that being said, it could be side effects from your Lexapro. Headache and constipation are both listed as possible side effects from this medication.  Constipation and headache could also be from your Dostinex. My suggestion would be to discuss your issue with your primary care doctor. He or she might want to do some thyroid levels on you to make sure that your levels have normalized again. I suggest that because you have listed Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. The only way to get a definitive answer is to have your primary doctor run some bloodwork and diagnose what may be causing these symptoms for you.

Best of luck to you.
