67 year old husband of 5 years has Asperger's??

I have been married 5 years to a man that is only 67 years old and recently realized he may have Asperger's.  His primary care physician gave him a mini-mental state exam in office and he did not do so well and was referred to a neurologist.  His neuro also gave him an MMSE and found him to be "borderline" for Dementia.  Someone suggested to me that he may have Asperger's instead of dementia and he fits most of the criteria!  I have contacted his neuro and asked that she screen him for this. Has anyone else known of anyone diagnosed later in life for Asperger's/HF Autism?  My marriage is on the line here.  Please help!
