Autism or not

I have a 5 year old daughter who has had speech delays since she was 2 1/2 years old.  We have been doing private speech therapy for 3 years and OT for 1 1/2 years.  We have seen 2 different ped. neurologists who have not diagnosed her with nothing else other than developmental delays.  She has seen an MD that I had a variety of blood work done to make sure she wasn't toxic for any type of metals all of that blood work was pretty normal.  I even brought her to a ped. endocrinologist since her TSH level was maybe a hair low and that checked out okay.  She has problems academically in school (she is in kinder.) with focusing and completing task especially if it's something she has no interest in.  She is just starting to play with some of the kids in the class but not a lot.  She has a special ed teacher that she sees her for 60 minutes every day at school and sees a ST twice a week for 30 or 45 min.  The speech teacher says that sometimes she does well and sometimes she seems to be in another world talking about unrelated subjects when she's trying to get her to do something different.  We have a difficult time doing homework because of her focusing problems, sometimes I wonder if she is actually learning because she seems to forget some information.  The special ed and ST have brougt up that she may have some traits of PDD.  The special ed teacher notices her gazing to the right when she looses her attention.  I have had her hearing and eyes checked and they are fine.  She has PET's in her ears for chronic ear infections, one has fallen out and the other is still partly in her ear.  I am frustrated as what to do next since no one can put their finger on any particular thing, and I am wondering if we are doing everything we need to be doing.  The next thing I was considering was taking her be evaluated by a child psychologist.  Her ped. neurologist is against putting her on any meds to help with her focusing, but I'm wondering if it would help.  Need help please!

My Son has Seizures and  a lot of them come with stress or being around new places and people. He has had a hard time learning and he use to be on drugs for ADD and ADHD until I found out he was having Seizures and that the drugs he had been taken could cause Seizures.

Right now he takes Medicines for Seizures , blood pressure medicine to try help his seizures .acid reflux Medicine.   And I also give him Vitamin B6 and Omega 3-6-9 Vitamin's every day.

I was trying to learn more about the enzymes and what they do and how they help and witch one to us. My brother doesn't talk and he is 35 years old and has not talked since he was 2 years old and when he did talk it was only like mommy ,daddy ,drink.eat.

Any info you could give I would really like it,you can send me a message with the info or post it here. Thank you.

Hi Stacy. I want to recommend digestive enzymes. This may sound weird to you, but there is SO MUCH benefit to consuming these. Read the book that inspired me, Enzymes for Autism and other Neurologocal Conditions by Karen DeFelice. One and one half years after using enzymes, my son emerged from Autism! He suddenly started talking about 6 months ago after being nonverbal. The enzymes calmed him down and he no longer gets headaches. He used to vomit because of the head pain, but we did not know this until he was able to talk! My son is now able to focus on things and is in a transition classroom. I highly recommend enzymes to everyone. If you want to, get on facebook I am Vicki Anger.Look me up and we can chat. If my name is deleted, please read that book. Your child will benefit, and will feel better. Best wishes!

My recommendation would be to read as much and learn as much as you can about PDD and what they do to treat it.  See if you are missing anything in her therapy.  She may or may not be on the spectrum, but I found that looking at all of the disorders and what is done for them gives me ideas of what I can do for my child even if he does not have the disorder.  I don't know if they medicate for pdd and focas.  I'm sure there is NOT a quick fix.  Medicating with add/adhd drugs for focas if she does not have add/adhd will have the opposite effect you are seeking.  She will rev up and have more behavioral problems and the side effects of the drugs.  So, you would want an accurate diagnosis for that.  A psychologist is for talk therapy and they do a nice job.  A pediatric psychiatrist is the one who would prescribe any medication.  But I personally would wait that out as she is still young. Again, I am sure there is no quick medication fix for focas and you would hate to add to her problems.  I'm not opposed to medication when deemed appropriate for a disorder, don't get me wrong.  But it would be my absolute last resort.  good luck.  But try to learn all you can about how they handle pdd.  My son has sensory integration disorder and we do "heavy work" which really increases his focas nicely.  good luck again.
