Thanks so much for your response. I will check out Easter Seals. We do want to provide him all the support we can - no matter what his issue is if any. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I really needed that.
Thank you for your response. My son was with us at all times - but we were doing hospital visits and rehab and other such things - whereby we were not able to pay him the attention that he required - being adopted and in the process of attachment, the timing was terrible. He stopped making eye contact with us and we had to work hard to reverse that when we realized what was happening. Feel so guilty now.
It is always best to have this kind of thing checked out. Easter Seals does an excellent job of an early childhood evaluation and can also hook you up with services. Most diagnoses at this age are not very accurate, but intervention is incredibly helpful regardless of the diagnosis. There is a lot of fluctuation in development and a million reasons why it might be off track...what is important is to see if it is "off" enough to require intervention. If yes, then do it. It makes all the difference in the world!!! But if anyone tells you your child is "this" or "that", take it with a grain of salt unless it's a medical diagnosis with objective, clinical proof.
Good luck.
Where was your son when your attention was diverted? is it possible that something traumatic happened to him while he was away from you? If not, then I would suggest you talk to his pediatrician.
