Has your MD or Rheumy ever discussed the possibility of YEAST in your body?

Hi everyone,

First of all this poll doesn't just pertain to lupus but any autoimmune disease.  I had to pick a topic and it only allowed me one.  I have been going to 'traditional doctors" for the last year and a half with a diagnosis of SLE.  I have read two books on yeast ( Candida ) and have read about what it can do to your body and diets to cleanse the yeast from your system.  Not one "regular doctor" has ever mentioned the possiblity of yeast to me much less tested me for it.  I recently went to a Wellness Doctor and she was awesome.  She spoke about improving my immune sysytem and making it stronger with vitamins and suppliments and also discussed the probability of yeast in my body especially since I have been on steroids for so long.  My question is I would like to know if anyone has had a "traditional doctor" mention the whole yeast thing to you Yes or No and then in your post if you could tell me you experience with a cleansing diet and if it included suppliments and pills to kill off the yeast.  I have everything to start the diet (which is very restricting by the way) but I was told I would possibly have flu type symptoms for a few days while the yeast died off and left my body.  I don't know if I can handle that right now with everything else going on.  So..... Yes or No has your doctor mentioned yeast could be at the root of your illness?
Thank you for participating.
Joni

Hey I looked at that site and they were discussing MERSA.

Also, check out Dr. Holtze and his books on Amazon.  The wellness doctor I am going to and my friend has been going to studied under him.  I am about to order a book of his.

Thanks friend,
Joni

Hi Joni686,

I believe the story about your friend. I'll have to google her physician's name and see what sort of therpies she did. I was told about the treatment that I'm on.... that is putting people who have autoimmune diseases in remission... that my ANA should eventually end up being negative again. I believe it because if you've read some of the success stories about these treatments, they are amazing. And I have my own, but I'm still on treatment. Treatment can take years... especially for those of us who have CFS (multiple infections) and have been ill for many years.

Here is a link to a discussion about building your immune system in the complementary medicine forum. I know they recommend many of these supplements for CFS patients... they also recommend olive leaf extract, transfer factor & host defense.

I am going to read up on castor oil as I have seen you make several posts regarding it.  Thanks.  I also posted this poll on the lupus board.  You might want to check it out and the response regarding confusion why we would want to make our immune system stronger.  We want a healthy immune system which means strong but not attacking us.  It is confusing to everyone, even doctors.
Thanks
for your post.

I agree.  I have a friend who has been going to the Wellness Doctor for four years now.  This doctor is an MD by the way and agrees traditional medicine is sometimes necessary but believe in the natural approach when at all possible.  Anyway, my friend has been following her advice strongly for the last few years and she found out this last week her ANA is negative.  She is full of energy and talking about building a deck in her backyard.  lol  I am so excited for her and am so impressed by this doctor.  The doctors name is Kimberly Schroeder who studied under Dr. Holtze.  I think I spelled that right.  Anyway, he has written several books on the subject.  The first things she wants me to do are the yeast fre diet and cleansing for one month and start bio-identical hormones.  next thing to figure out is my thyroid.  I should know something this week.

I made this post so that anyone who has not been told about YEAST would look into it further.  I hope it helps at least one person.

Thanks for your post.
