Severe Neck Pain

Last year I had a ct scan done which says that I have problems with 4 of the 7 vertebrae...wear and tear because I"m older. .  Anyway,  about 2 weeks ago, the pain started on the left side of my neck.  It got worse and so I went to the hosp.  Dr gave me naproxen and muscle relaxers and said it will take time to heal.  He seemed to think it was a strain.  I went to my own dr and he just referred back to my ct scan last year.  Well now its 2 weeks later, and its really bad.  I can't walk or lay down without pain....and I get  a couple of painful episodes out of the blue where I break out in a sweat. I went to the grocery store today and just walked in the door and had to leave because of the pain.  Do you think I should get an x ray to see exactly what it is.  I heard that it could be a fractured disc or a pinched nerve or god knows what.   Whatever it is, its very painful.   Please help.

I have severe neck pain as well on my left side. After an MRI of the cervical spine, it showed severe arthritis between my C3-C5.  I have an injection done about a month ago and it didn’t do anything. Next step will be a procedure (not sure of the name) to where they burn the nerves.

I would push for a MRI of cervical spine as it has better imaging

I got an xray done and it showed there are problems with the C5 and C6 disks.  The report back said the edges of those disks were jagged and also that I had arthritis in them.  The doctor also said that this won't be the last time I get it ...as it will come back again.  He mentioned physio.
