I think you should go find a new physician at least someone you're comfortable with during physical examination.

The fact an ob/gyn did a thyroid exam while you pulled your hair back probably means he noticed something he wanted to check. I hope he referred you to your PCP for follow-up.  He shouldn't have grabbed your hair, as you say, and definitely should not have pulled your head back, which is what your comment implies.

As far as having a female in the room, YES, he should have. Not sure if it's required but most doctors do for their own protection against having a patient complaint that he did something inappropriate.

Does he stutter while speaking normally to you? He might have still been worried about your thyroid. Please see your PCP about it. Be careful about mentioning how the other Dr. made you feel. As your PCP is a mandated  reporter, you might be opening a big can of worms. Unless you TRULY FEEL the other Dr. was inappropriate. If he did make you feel uncomfortable, please find another OB/GYN. Again, be careful mentioning the other OB/GYN. They don't need to know why you chose another and usually don't ask.

If you do think the OB/GYN assaulted you, please report this. You can start with the police. You don't need to call 911 if that would bring unwanted attention. You can go to any uniform division or police station and ask to speak to an officer. Depending on your local PD you might even speak to a female officer.

Generally, if the doctor is a man they are supposed to have a woman in the room. Although my doctor has not called the nurse in several times. Sometimes he asks me if I care whether or not he calls the nurse in and I don't care because I have been going to him for 15 years. But if you don't like your doctor get a female OBGYN. If he didn't hurt you when he grabbed your hair I wouldn't worry about it.  He may have seen something that indicated your thyroid may be off. So that is okay too. If he hurt you I would report him. Other wise I wouldn't really do much except if you didn't like him or being alone either ask for a nurse or women to be in the room or change to a female doctor. I have had a lot of weird doctors. But obviously it would have been better if he had said to you would you move your hair back please I want to check your thyroid. So that is my take on it. I am sure you will get other responses.
take care,
