visual disturbace from Neurontin and/or Celebrex

I have had a visual disturbance since going up on Neurotin and taking Celebrex. I have seen in the package insert of Neurontin that it can cause visual disturbances and rare retinal problems etc. I have also seen a New Zealand study recently that said some people get a visual disturbance from Celebrex. I am quitting both for that reason. Has anyone had visual problems from either drug? I get a wavy line that moves (like a migraine aura without the migraine) for about half an hour in both eyes and it goes away.
thanks,

Thanks. Well, I was on 300mg of Neurontin for 4 years and never had the problem until I went up to 900mg. I was taking that for 6 months and the visual abnormality never went away. I also suspect in rare cases Celebrex could be the culprit. But I went off of that for 3 weeks and I still got the disturbance while still on high dose Neurontin. So, I figure it is more likely the Neurontin. I just hope it didn't effect my vision long term. I have gone down to 500 mg and haven't had a aura like disturbance since.
thanks,

I had visual problems when I started neurontin. Things would get real blurry when trying to focus in. It took a couple of months for this side effect to pass.

Neurontin has alot of side effects. I took it and Ik alot of other people that have taken it and that are now taking it. I personally feel that the bad outweighs the good when it comes to this drug and Lyrica. There are so many bad side effects. Pitted edema, weight gain, blurred vision, sleep eating, can cause more pain than before you started, hangover into next day, brain fog, headaches etc... Just look up adverse reactions to this drug and see if you are experiencing them. Trust your instincts. Also NEVER JUST STOP THIS MEDICATION COME DOWN SLOW WITH YOUR DOCTOR'S GUIDANCE.. WITHDRAWALS ARE NOT FUN...I hope I helped..God Bless..
Just to say, the post you're responding to is 11 years old so don't know if they're still here.  Might be.  I just wanted to say, since some will see this, that it's hard to find any prescription drug that doesn't have a ton of side effects.  We keep finding more of them as the drug ages, and neurontin is an old drug.  Sometimes they are start-up effects and go away and sometimes they stick around and don't go away (and sometimes they stick around even after you stop taking the med).  But not everyone gets the same side effects and most people don't get them that badly or the med would never catch on.  That's no help to someone who gets a lot of bad effects, but if you do get them and stop taking the drug fairly soon after starting and don't wait several months the withdrawal will be less for almost everyone.  Lyrica of course was supposed to supplant neurontin because it was supposed to have fewer side effects, but whether that turned out to be true I don't know.  When drugs are relatively new, nobody knows how they are going to affect people.  Although the FDA measures this in deciding approval, they are only studying studies and trials done by the manufacturer, and manufacturers are not known to tell the whole truth.  Bad for business.  Better to make a ton of money before review panels down the road discover just how difficult the med is and whether or not it even works.  But again, most people aren't going to get all these effects other than the risk of withdrawal if you don't taper off it carefully with a doc who actually knows how to do this, which is rare.  So I guess I'm saying, if you worry too much about side effects you'd never take any drug, and sometimes you have no good alternative, but it does argue for a much more judicious use of them instead of using meds as the first resort treatment.  Peace.
