I will do just that. My next appointment in July, I am going to request the MRI and take to another surgeon. Thanks so much for the help and suggestions. I will keep you updated.
WOW..I am truely going through what you have gone through. So when you had the first surgery what was the surgery?
Its amazing I am seeing myself all over again reading your story. So what type of pain managment are you doing? I go back to the Dr on the 13th or so of July. I am scared to death of having another surgery after this first one and the pain I just cant see myself doing it..I rather be on meds for the rest of my life considering I have a great husband who is at my side every chance he can and helps out with the kids.
I think you need to have 2 doctors agree on what's wrong and what should be done. You don't want to jump into something that might not help. As a patient you have a right to copies of MRI, find another Surgeon that will take a look at them and have them sent over to him/her. Just because one doctor says your MRI looks good doesn't mean that there's nothing there, particularly if you can't stand or walk.
The source of back pain is very difficult for them to diagnose, that's why they really need to figure out whats wrong and what they want to do about it. Also you need them to be straight with you, and tell you how much of the pain they think the surgery will help. Let me know whats going on.

Wow,
It's my story... different doctors! 2 years ago, had a neuro tell me he could take care of leg pain but not back pain. Maybe the pain was just so bad all over, I couldn't tell where it began or ended.. but I believed him when he said I needed to have the surgery.
Had the surgery, spent 5 days in hospital because the pain was so bad. I could not even put my foot to the ground without 10/10 pain (yes, pass out type of pain). Spent 3 month with a walker -
Ended up going to pain management because back and leg pain was so bad a year later. now have a different neurosurgeon and orthopedic both tell me I need fusions. and the kicker? They both say it will only help SOME of the back pain but it won't do anything for the leg pain. The surgery will make my back pain about 40% better.
Is this worth it??!!
No wonder I am trying to find help through pain management and not jump into more surgery.
Thanks so much for talking with me! Well first he kept sayin the pain was from the herniated disc, so he said he would do the micro and that would take care of my leg pain and when I asked about my back pain all he would say is oh this will take away your leg pain and that what we need to concentrate on(per dr). There is another Dr in the office that in the beggining said oh you need a fusion because that will take away the back pain if you just get the micro then that will only take care of the leg pain(which was paid but my bulk pain was and is in my back). So my dr went against him and said oh no lets do the smaller one "first". Now I am scared as hell to have a second surgery because i was in the hospital for a week after the micro. He said after the micro the MRI looked good so he is confused on why I still have pain. Tell me what you think I should do from here?? Get another opinion?? But what if they say fusion?? I cant thank you enough for talking with me!
ooops I am sorry I had a microdisectomy. I had more back pain but did have some leg pain. Now I still have my back pain, cant stand, sit or even walk. Does this now mean that I will need the fusion since he never really took care of my back, and was concerned with the leg pain? Thanks
I'm confused, did you have a fusion or just a decompression surgery? A MicroDisectomy is usually done for leg pain. Give it a little time hopefully you'll start feeling better.

It probably wouldn't hurt to get another opinion. Sorry to hear your still feeling so bad, hope you feel better.
