I had this problem and it was c5c6 cervical spine
Disc blown. After surgery 2 years later I still can't raise arm above shoulder. They tell me it's nerve damage.

Waiting for the health insurance to kick in next week. Didn't know which way to go, if i should see my gp or just head to specialist. brother tore his to his pieces also. hurts real bad when i try to sleep. can't find a comfortable postion at all.

Time to see an Orthopedic MD...don't put it off long. If it's your rotator cuff, depending on the degree of tear, they need to be repaired sooner than later.
