Could I be pregnant?

Hello!

I began taking lo loestrin fe on August 6th for controlling cysts. I take it every day and have not missed pills, but the time varies by a few hours daily. I had unprotected sex on the 18th day but he did not ejaculate inside me. Since it is my first month on the pill I worried I may become pregnant and read that Lo loestrin fe, if taken in doses of 2 pills after sex, and two pills 12 hours later, can act as a plan b type pill. Because of this, I'm on the sugar pills 3 days earlier than I should be and was wondering if this mischeduling can cause a pregnancy? Everything I read said the pill is very effective if taken correctly and no pills are missed or skipped. I havent skipped any, but since I took 3 extra pills, this is technically not taking the pills "correctly" either. I've been very bloated and have been having terrible back aches since the sex. Could I be pregnant?

When you say I should start the next pack early, do you mean after the placebo week when the pack is completed, or after the blue active pills i should immediately start a new pack? Sorry, I was just a little confused. Thanks for your help!

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would advise you to start your next pack early--directly after this pack ends.  I would also advise you that that chance of pregnancy is quite low since you are correct that LoEstrin is similar to other emergency contraception when taken the way that you did--in fact in the old days that's what we used to use.
IF you have a normal period, I would feel comfortable with that, but a pregnancy test is never wrong and you should definitely do one if you don't have a period.
Good luck!
