Could possibly be checking for a brain tumour. Or any kind of sign of brain damage.
By no means am I saying that's what you have. So don't get all paranoid thinking you have a brain tumour. It is simply a suggestion to your question of why.

They may also want to see sinus cavities - like the sphenoid sinus - that cannot be scoped in the office.

Yes, this was a thought to me also. I have a relative right now who is fighting for her life from a brain tumor. I know it could be totally unrelated to my issues but of course it is still a cause of worry. My MRI is the 3rd of Oct. so hopefully soon one way or another I'll know something.
