Hello again. I need a little more advice if possible. I just had the breast MRI and thankfully, it did come back with "no evidence of suspicious mass, enhancement or malignancy in either breast." I am very happy for this however I was wondering why this would happen when the recent ultrasound found the above described nodule? I think I still have the same nodule because I can still feel it, although it has gotten smaller
I spoke to the radiologist and he said there is no evidence of the nodule in my breast. He also said that MRI is used to clarify ultrasound, which can be effected by operator error.
I will be seeing my surgeon in a week and asking all of these questions, but for now I was just wondering, which report do I go by?
Dear tortoise221: Without review of the ultrasound, it is impossible to speculate on what this might be or even how suspect this may appear. An MRI may clarify things but be prepared. An MRI is a very sensitive test and commonly results in false positive results that can lead to unnecessary biopsy. In other words, a positive MRI does not necessarily mean cancer but may mean further investigation.
Sorry, to post again. I also forgot to mention that I am 30 years old and the nodule is in the 6 O'clock position. I also had a normal mammogram about 2 months ago.
Forgot to mention that I spoke with Doc who was at the ultrasound and he did say the nodule is wider than tall.
