Hi there, I just got result from second mammogram (spot compression magnification imaging) perform over the area of concern in the posterior central right projection demonstrates clustered microcalcification which appears increased compare to prior studies.  this clustered microcalcification appears to be located in the superior aspect of the right breast as seen in the 90 degree projection.  Both of these areas have been circled on the magnification image on the original right cc views dated 7/16/08

impression : birads category 4a : suspicious abnormality - low suspicion of malignancy.

Please help me and explain, I am so worry and scare, look forward to hearing from you...

A BIRAD 4 score usually calls for a biopsy ... I would think one was recommended; or will be when you see your Physician. All biopsies done on pt.s with a BIRAD4 rating do NOT come back as cancer. A fair percentage are found to be benign. When Microcalcifications are found to be in clusters or groups they are an indication of a problem ... but not necessarily cancer. Regards .....

sounds pretty good to me...
LOW SUSPICION OF MALIGNANCY....should mean that's there's not much chance of cancer....
presumably they are pickling the samples so that they can give you precise diagnosis...
but it sounds low risk to me

I researched the birad score, and 4 means suspect of malignancy, the percentage is anywhere from 2-95%.....nothing to do but wait for bipsy results....good luck, I am in same boat.

Dear Donna1962,  A birads category of 4a is describing the abnormality seen on the mammogram.  A suspicious looking abnormality, and further evaluation of this abnormality will likely be recommended – such as a biopsy just to be sure of what this abnormality is.
