Ultrasound showed solid dense mass

Thanks first for the site, 38 yr mother of two history of papilloma rt breast '97 and removed infected node in armpit. Rt breast last yr underwent FNA for complex cyst. Mammo in Dec no obvious changes in either breast. July noticed Left breast throbbed. Yearly exam end of July told Dr. he examined, found a few cysts by palpation(nothing unusual for me)sore no red flags told me to cont w/self exams and to call if changes noted.Left breast started to look bigger by the end of month thought it was imagination (prior surgery to right breast thought it was always like that) last week blood showed up in left bra area upon squeezing nipple reproduced blood. Saw dr. he was disturbed about size left breast was. (Not my imagination)! thought it probably was papilloma. Mammo & US Tue. showed a few complex cysts in left breast and solid dense mass @6:00 position. Radioligist rec'd see surgeon for biopsy highly rec'd excisional biopsy. The lump that they are calling a solid mass I have had awhile ,I thought it was another cyst(which I have frequently). I feel very guilty for not paying enough attention to it. And I am getting kinda scared. Grandma and her daughter(my aunt)died of breast cancer. Am I over reacting over this thing? What is this thing Aurora Dedicated Breast MRI Scan thing would this help diagnose me? Why can't the Mammo and US tell me what this is other than they know it isn't fluid filled mass. I just was told yesterday and have not rec'd the actual report from the radiologist. My surgeon (whom i know) is getting another Dr.to view my films. Any advise or help?

I obtained a copy of the US and Mammo report and the original US report was first catagory 2 BENIGN finding but when further US was done the next day they catagorized it as BI RADS cat 4
"imaging indicates no cystic lesion seen in region of questionable soft tissue nodule demonsrtated on Mammo on 8/19/03. Therefore is presumed to be solid.Excisional biopsy rec'd for removal". The Mammo report states that this areas is in the 6 o clock position.( And I can feel it.) But it indicated that this area was not seen on last mammo in Dec.It states small tissue density measuring > than 1 cm at 6 oclock position. My question is should I get a Mammotone biopsy or excisional biopsy? As I stated in first post another radiologist has looked over it and I go to the surgeon on Mon the 25th.What questions do I ask him.? Kinda worried.

Dear hairs2u:  There is no scan or xray that can diagnose a mass.  There can be more or less suspicion but the only way to diagnose a mass is with a biopsy.  A solid mass is more suspicious than a fluid-filled mass.  Without knowing more about what was seen on film, it is impossible to know how suspicious this mass may appear.  Since you have the bloody drainage and it was spontaneos (initially), further evaluation is needed.
