Lent

Lent is coming up. I was curious how many here participate in it and what all you do. For some reason we see more Catholics who follow Lent than protestants but I'm not sure why that is. I think it's a wonderful way to draw closer to the Lord and be willing to give up something for Him since He gave so much to us.

What are some of the things you've done in the past and what are you thinking about this year, if I may ask?
My daughter and I were talking the other day and I told her I thought she should give up candy (she has a real sweet tooth!) and she said I should give up the computer, ouch! I told her I'd think about it. I had thought I would focus more on my diet but I'd already decided to cut way back on here and spend more time with God so I may go that route. That's 40 days, though, it might be rough!
What if anything are any of you going to do this year for Lent?

jimi....congratulations on you goal and we support you. It's VERY hard to lose just a few pounds and I still have at least 8 to 10 more to go, but it's working for me!

I actually voluntered yesterday at a parish pantry and they WORKED me (lol). The more food bags I made, the more people started coming in. We had 35 already ready and I had to make at least 10-13 more. I'm also trying to give up soda for 39 days. It should be 40, but I'm a weak human being and had a little yesterday...opssss.:)  Judy

Lent is sacrafice, meditation and it will lead to the passion of Christ and his ressurection. I'm going to admit that I'm terrible on giving up anything, BUT since I am on a diet, I will give up my favorite....cafeine (Coke softdring and cofee...yes, cofee!). I might fast...maybe, I'll see if I have the will to fast.  Judy

I have been giving this a lot of thought and still have not come up with something to give up. And it is something I really want to do this year but I understand that if I do do it, it has to be for the right reasons not just because it's a good idea.
