Doctor Confidentiality

My son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 4. He is now 6 and in 1st grade. Is it appropriate for a doctor to contact a child's teacher without parental consent?

Communication between a child's doctor and outside professionals must be authorized by the parent or guardian of the child.

Thank you for your answer, I will be looking into this further. I know I did not sign a waiver giving permission for the dr. to communicate with my son's teacher. I am upset that the dr. and teacher left us out of the loop and didn't consult us.
