Learning disability - 3 year old

Hello, as a child I was diagnosed with a auto and visual dislexia.  My almost 5 year old is smart very smart.  however I have noticed my 3 and a half year old son's thinking is a bit off.  For example, if he is sitting on the potty and cant go he will tell me "mommy my poopy and pee is asleep"  At first I thought that this was so cute.  However, in combination with some other issue it is starting to make me think.  He still can not count to 10 instead he does 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9.  However, when we were at the pool when he was almost 3 he counted to 5 in spanish.  He still "guesses" with his color and gives off I just dont care aditude.  His speach does not seem to be improving and he is extreamly stuborn and hard headed.  With all this in combination it reminds me a little of me as a child.  Can a 3 year old be diagnosed this early or could it just be he is being a 3 year old and learning just isnt his thing? I am going to speak to his pediatritian at his 4 year old check up but that is not until Jan.  Am I seeing something that isnt there?

Overall yes, I think you are worried when there does not seem to be a reason for worry.

I guess what I am trying to ask is am I over reacting?  I guess its just hard to explain.  I understand all 3 year old can be stuborn and hard headed!  The Horrible 3 stage test a lot of parents.  When I am putting togeather is everything else.  The abstract thing "poopy is sleeping" instead I dont have to go.  I would think that a 3 and a half year old should know his color by now but he always seems to be guessing.

Your description does not invite the degree of concern that you are expressing. It would be prudent to have him evaluated by a developmental pediatrician. You could do that now and not wait until he turns four.
