6 year old boy - ticks and focus issues

My 6 year old son is having real issues focusing in school.  He's already in a small core group.  He also seems to be having lots of erections,  he makes himself shiver to try to control the way it is making him feel.  He's always bitten his lip and a DR advised he has tics which may get worse.  He's a very picky eater. I'm hoping to get good medical help as all prvs drs werent too worried.  I'm very concerned for him.  When I work with him on schoolwork he seems to do fairly well.  He has a vivid imagination and teachers say he is artistically tlnted and creative.  Any sound advice would be appreciated!

Thank you for your response.  The doctors I spoke of are pediatricians.  I am now planning to go to a new ped. who will hopefully take my concerns more seriously.  I have wondered about the anxiety, stress myself.  He's the baby of the family and has actually been pretty spoiled so I'm at a loss on how he would be (most of my maternal side of the family IS prone to this however).
No,  he isnt masturbating but he seemed to develop an interest in women at an early age.  He does seem to be uncomfortable about it and it's gotten worse in the past month or so.  Once again, thanks for your response.  I feel more confident in this new Dr.  who came highly recommended for this issue.  I do want to rule out any psyiological concerns before placing him on meds.

You mention that 'all previous doctors' did not express concerns about your son. What types of doctors evaluated your son? While his biting his lip may be a motor tic, it is rather unusual. This sort of behavior is generally an indication of stress/tension/anxiety. Now that your son is six, it would make sense to have him eval;uated by a child psychologist or child psychiatrist, and one of the issues you'll want to address is the possibility of ADHD. Relative to the erections, are they the result of his masturbating, or are they occurring spontaneously (or in response to some particular stimulation)? Even before boys can produce sperm, they are able to experience orgasm and that may what you are witnessing.
