Chronic rib pain

Hi i am a 31 year old woman who has had chronic rib pain since i was 10. I can't remember what i was diagnosed with at that age but i remember taking medication for over two years. My ribs hurt just by gently touching them and nothing i seem to do helps. I am desperately in need of help since my doctor doesn't realize how much it hurts. I have taken rheumatoid tests and they all come out negative. I am 6 feet tall. I also cannot get massages since it hurts to much when people touch me. Thank you for any response in this.

Tina,

I have a few questions... do all of your ribs hurt, or just some of them? Do they hurt only in the back, or also on the sides and in the front? Do the ribs themselves hurt (the bone) or is it the space between the ribs that's so tender? Lastly, does it hurt for you to breathe or take deep breaths?

Warm wishes,
AT

Hi, My ribs hurt in the front, back, sides. Its the bone that hurts. Oddly enough the pain increases when I take my finger away after touching them. All of them hurt. Sometimes when I breathe its only the area above my right breast that is affected. Thank you for your response.
