Neck Adjustments for TMJ

Hello, and thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I started going to the chiro about two weeks ago for my tmj and he said I should have neck adjustments for 2 weeks 3 days a week. So far it hasnt helped my tmj it may have made it worse cause im now streesed about my neck it feels sore and numb going down my back. Was this a proper thing to do for tmj?

Thanks

Frequency of adjustments is a hot button issue in chiropractic. I don't personally believe that there is a cookie-cutter number of adjustments for any given problem... however, 6-visits in two weeks isn't outrageous. Everyone is different, and the doctor's adjusting method is a big factor too.

In my practice, I find that if a patient with TMJ is going to respond favorably, it generally happens within 1-2 weeks...

For many cases of TMJ, I would say that pursuing chiropractic care for relief is a great idea... but if this route doesn't satisfy you, you might have to go to another office for the results you're seeking. Consider finding an Upper Cervical doctor in your area (via: www.UpCspine.com).
