2 month pneumonia

I am an 18 year old female who has always had good health. About 2 months ago i was taken into the emergency room with a high fever, trouble breathing, sharp pain in my legs which i could barely move, and extreme pain everywhere else in my body. That night after many tests they found nothing. The next day i was taken to see my normal doctor and she said that she saw pneumonia in my right lower lobe. i was prescribed anitbiotics 2 different times and have had my lung x-rays repeated many many times, but no improvement has been shown. I still have pain in my lungs and i have lost some weight. Currently, i am prescribed to tylenol with codeine, which i am directed to take every 6 hours. i have been waiting to get into a pulmonary doctor for a month now, but they are booked for new patients a month in advance. is there anything i can do in the mean time? is this much pain at all normal? Please respond !

This much general body pain is most unusual for pneumonia and the persistence, with less than complete relief for 2 months, very unusual.  More commonly, with pneumonia, one experiences pleurisy, which is chest pain that is worse with a deep breath.  The pain of your legs raises the question of deep vein clot formation.  Given your circumstance, you should not have to wait any longer to see a pulmonary specialist.  If the pulmonologist or his/her staff will not accommodate your request for a timely appointment, you must ask your "normal doctor" to intercede in your behalf.
