Thanks for all the information. Apart from research, if we get information from the user it does help to develop confidence. I will use the drug if the tightness develops into pain.
If your inclination is toward holistic therapy, you may just try EFT. I have used it for insomnia. It did not help or I did not do enough and proper EFT. Someone did recommend again giving some extra precaution, I may try again.
I will also visit Pain community. Thanks

Yes I have researched gabapentin and I'm aware of its wrongful marketing suit...however you'll find MANY medications are used 'off label'..always need to weigh the pros and cons, for me gaba was a life saver, I had been averaging only 3 hrs of sleep for a few years due to sciatica pain....
I have been using gaba for 7 years now, started at 900mg than 1200mg and 1800mg the past 3 yrs...with good control, until recently when a doctor put me on the 2700mg because the neuropathy was getting worse, like I said the theraputic dose for neuropathy is 1800mg...so the extra didn't work and now I've gone back down to 1800mg.
Pregabalin (Lyrica)...yes my doctors have also suggested I switch to this as it MAY give me more relief than the Gaba...I am considering.
Since I have had NO side effects from the Gaba all these years, I am reluctant to switch until I really need to...now just at uncomfortable stage with the leg pains...
Don't fear Gaba is widely used and documented..
Do you read the PAIN COMMUNITY?
Its very helpful for people with many many types of pain and the medications they use...
Gaba and Pegabalin have good a bad results by different individuals.

thanks for passing that on tho...good to be on top of all the drugs we use!!

I thought 500 mg. dose is too high. Anyway your experience shows that it does not help. For how long you had taken GABA ?
I was all the time worrying that I have not taken for enough duration of time. AS such this is an off -label treatment.
I just researched GABA and found lot of controversy about the drug’s use and wrong marketing by Pfizer. I paste a relevant paragraph for another drug developed after GABA-from wikepidia.

Parkdevis developed a drug called pregabalin to be a successor of gabapentin,[2] which was brought to market by Pfizer as Lyrica after they acquired Warner-Lambert. Pregabalin is related in structure to gabapentin and is approved for treatment of epilepsy, neuropathic pain associated with diabetes, fibromyalgia, post-herpetic neuralgia, and generalized anxiety disorder.
It will be interesting to research pregabain. Probably you might have already researched.

My son in law and his father are Neurologist. Neurolological reflexes are normal. . I have taken GABA 500 mg. per day for about one month with no relief.
I have also taken serratio peptidase. It is an enzyme and it is anti inflammatory. I took it for a month. Again ther was no response. These sensations are more of annoyance rather than sever pain.
I was treated by a foot clinic diabatologist. She also faild to help.I happen to read about piriformis muscle which is near sciatica. If it is inflamed these type of sensations may occur. This muscle is in the gluteal region. The above enzyme i had taken for this muscle's inflamation. So medico-cyber search is continuing.let us carry on!

I'v forgotten have I already asked if you are taking any anti epileptic medications? These are highly effective in treating.

You are doing all the right excersises and acupuncture too should be of some help....have you seen a neurologist?

I have smoked for 50 years. I have stopped smoking since 4 years. I understand the present problem may be because of smoking. After cessation of smoking my throat problem has abated. It has said that you keep improving up to 5 years after stopping smoking.Let us hope some more benefits are manifested. I do not have nerve impigement. I have tinitus. This is probably due to nerve impigement on the ear drum. This probem is genetic.I am having tinitus since last 39 yrs. So lot of hurdles but the life is going on.

I am doing kegel exercises to strengthen pelvic floor muscle. This may improve control on bladder. Bladder muscle (the name I am forgetting) should contract when the bladder is full. When bladder muscle contracts with half filled bladder, incontinence occurs. To retrain the bladder, deliberate delay in urination is recommended. Now I shall be trying that approach as well. Taking spicy food also is one of the causes of frequent urination. Thanks for your response.
I do yoga, acupressure for tightness of feet. Doctors have no clue except labeling it as a case of neuropathy. So I am continually researching on these subjects. You may send info if you come across\ any further information. T

hi Dalubaba............I am a female but have similar problems as you.
the problems originates in my lower spine and pressure on the nerves down the legs causing the neuropathic pain.
I have lots of numbness/achy/pins needles/and shooting pains through my hips/thighs/calves and even one foot...
and YES if the problem originates in the lower spinal area(do you have a nerve impingement?)....this will cause increased bladder urgency....and can lead to incontinence.......
Its all related to increased pressure on the pelvic floor muscles and loss of control.......
hope I've answered your question?
