upper abdomen

For quite some time now i have had a light acidic feeling in my left abdomen, just under my left rib cage. The discomforting feeling is heightened when I drink alcohol, more so while i'm on birth control.

The feeling is always slightely there, but not ever as bad as after drinking alcohol while on birth control. The morning after drinking I feel extremely nauscious and usually vomit. When I vomit during these times I notice a bright yellow colored something and a dark brown something coming up. Again, this usually only happens to me while I'm on birth control.

Also, I now have been having large amounts of blood in my stool.
What is wrong with me???????

Hi goosett,
The symptoms you have mentioned indicate that you are bleeding in the gut. Since you consume alcohol also, liver disease causing these bleed should be ruled out.
An upper GI endoscopy need to be done to look in to the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. An ultrasound scan abdomen should be done to assess the status of liver and spleen.

Sometimes bleeding from the upper GI tract may be responsible for the blood in stools. But it can also be due to causes in the colon and rectum.

So to start with you need to undergo upper GI endoscopy and ultrasound scan abdomen.

ALSO, sorry i forgot to mention that applying light to mild pressure on the spot where there is discomfort/ an acidic feeling on my left upper abdomen area actually soothes it.

and the blood in my stool has lasted for over a month now.

THANK YOU
