Irregular thickening of urinary bladder wall

Hello everyone,

I'm new here so please excuse my medical ignorance!

My 80-year-old father-in-law had his urinary bladder mass assessed and the finding was:

Heterogeneously enhancing partially exophytic  irregular mural thickening at the UB wall with SUVmax 23.5 and measures 5.7 x 2.7 cm.

My question is: how serious is that? Does it mean he has cancer? Is there much difference between regular and irregular thickening?

thanks
