Daily aspirin takes another hit
The American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association and the American College of Cardiology have been dishing out advice for decades, telling diabetics with heart risk (in other words, all diabetics) to gobble down an aspirin a day starting at 40 years old.
Now, they're saying that diabetic men can hold off until they're 50, and women don't have to start until they're 60.
Give me a break
I don't think anyone should be taking daily doses of aspirin. This is a powerful and dangerous med that can lead to gastrointestinal bleeding and even bleeding in your brain -- putting you at risk for a hemorrhagic stroke.
Yet for years, the mainstream has been handing out these pills like lollipops despite the fact that there is no credible evidence that proves "aspirin therapy" can lower heart risk.
Whether you're diabetic or not, the best way to lower your heart risk is through better eating and fish oil capsules, twice a day. Omega-3 fatty acids will do a much better job of boosting your cardiovascular health -- and they come with none of the risks of daily aspirin use.
Not only that, but fish oil will also help everything from your eyes to your brain.
Aspirin, on the other hand, is a powerful and dangerous drug, and it should be reserved for when you truly can't handle the pain
But never, ever take them every day.
This is from an article from a doctor W.D.C.
The medical community makes so many about-faces that its fallibility is evident. That being the case, let us resort to common sense. We all have it - and it doesn't cost us anything.
I do take fish oil,but have to be very careful taking any thing else that thins the blood and can't have dark greens because of vitamin K. I want to take the least amount of rat poison.
"And if you really hate life, add an ibuprofen to the mix -- patients who take that and aspirin together have double the risk of fatal heart attack.
These are powerful drugs, not candy. take a fish oil instead. "
Did you try the fish oil? I know also, the ginko has blood thinning properties as well.
peggy, I have 2 factors for causing blood clots and the doctors put me on aspirin to prevent it and I told him I didn't want to take it. I ended up using it and had 4 blood clots 2 in each leg.
the doctor said stop the aspirin and put me on rat poison warfarin and I have a filter.
Its getting really ridiculous. This is great in 2007, then in 2008 this is terrible don't take it.
I mean look at coffee... how many times have we heard its not good for you, then turn right around and read a study of how it IS good for you. And this is just ONE example.
I repeat....its getting really ridiculous. Wonder who is PAYING for those studies. Could that just possibly have something to do with all these reports. I mean...its getting really ridiculous.
Who's to say what when, and how much any more. its getting really _ridiculous.
(will cease the rambling now) but really.............
Even the Wall Street Journal is giving aspirin therapy the kiss of death. A recent story with the headline "The Danger of Daily Aspirin" began with this sentence: "If you're taking a daily aspirin for your heart, you may want to reconsider."
Forget "may" -- definitely reconsider, because this was a bad idea the moment Big Pharma's marketing department dreamed it up.
One new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found no benefit at all in giving aspirin to people at high risk of heart disease. It was funded in part by Bayer.
But the truth is aspirin can cause bleeding in the stomach and brain. And that's not the only way this supposed painkiller can kill you... because aspirin can actually cause potentially deadly blood clots. Roughly half of all people who suffer a fatal heart attack took an aspirin that day.
Don't down daily aspirin unless you've got a death wish. And if you really hate life, add an ibuprofen to the mix -- patients who take that and aspirin together have double the risk of fatal heart attack.
These are powerful drugs, not candy. take a fish oil instead.
Thanks, I admire people who do take care of their body...but I also feel sorry for people who do not.
Cheers
Thank you for your recent post.
I must say that, based on your first post, (Our Brain and body is so clever that we do not need any chemicals to prevent anything. I SAY.......Eat well sleep well and enjoy life. Leave any meds in the Pharmacy..), that is why I said that our bodies (meaning, alone) are not so clever...
I agree that eating right and more importantly the right foods can help our bodies repair and regenerate. I guess I say 'help' because alone our bodies are pretty remarkable at renewing but combined with a healthy lifestyle the body can do much more efficiently what God intended.
And, yes...what we eat certainly shows either by our waistlines, skin/hair, and certain ailments. I like that quote "you look what you eat".
Adios.
Oh, I believe that our body is a sophistcated mechanism and our brain is a central computer and clever to prevent any disease ONLY when you feed it the right stuff So every ND & MD will advise to treat your body good with the right foods for years to come..
Before 2005 I neglected my body terribly using all kinds of antyhistamines and puffers and painkillers and all....and suffering from tremendous grief after my father passed away, I was diagnosed with cancer in 2005.. Now I am taking care of my body and don't need to use any of the meds I had to before 2005 because diet helped me to get rid off my ailments and I am working slowly on my cancer with alternative/conventional remedies ...which many do not believe in. :( I also made a peace with my inner feelings about my dad's passing.
So, I honestly believe that Diet has everything to do with how we feel and what state our body is. My neighbour, 94 years old lady told me that: "You look what you eat" and I believe her. For 94 years old lady she looks like she is less than 70 and she never used any Pharma drugs..occassionally pain killer and she ate lots of veggies and fruits only ate organic non processed foods all her life. So I believe her..
Fish Oil will make your blood platelets slippery. As for aspirin when the study was done
they used Bufferin! Bufferin contains Magnesium and Magnesium thins the blood
I thought that aspirin is a derived from plants. Low doses are used to keep blood thin and used successfully for heart patients. Deepdiver, I'm not sure what you are trying to convey by providing this link. Maybe an FYI?
I watched the video and it seems that the higher the cholesterol in the studied patients, the lower the thinning of the blood. But, it did reveal that lowering cholesterol would enable a low dose aspirin to work.
I'm sorry but I must disagree with sunes. Eating and sleeping well or enjoying life may contribute to well being but it will not help those who suffer from hereditary heart problems. And our brains or bodies are not so clever as to prevent diseases.
I did not see what you posted but know that aspirin is a scam as anyother drug to take every day for preventive medicine. If something is not broken do not fix it.Our Brain and body is so clever that we do not need any chemicals to prevent anything.
I SAY.......Eat well sleep well and enjoy life. Leave any meds in the Pharmacy..
Sunes.
